UAW workers and retirees will celebrate White Shirt Day to honor the Flint sit-down strike successful conclusion in Flint Michigan on February 11, 1937. The white shirts are worn as a tribute to the Flint strikers who became the bargaining agent in talks with GM.  The 44-day strike was meant to tell management that “blue collar” workers should a accorded the same respect as their management counterparts, according to UAW officials. As a result – Local 598 was born.
