The Unwelcome Backyard Porcupine.

“The muses are ghosts, and sometimes they come uninvited.” ~~~ Stephen King

Mr. King might be correct regarding ghosts and muses.. However,… one wonders what he would say about uninvited rodents.

This guy appeared last night in the cherry tree in our backyard. He lacks the inspiration of a muse, though he s unsolicited. We have tried to tell him that he does not have a reservation and needs to leave.

The dogs are not happy.

  1. I have never seen a porcupine except in a zoo. We have armadillos and a neighbor swears he has iguanas. Hedgehogs in the Midwest. Never a porcupine! 😎

  2. The dogs will be even less happy if they get an up close encounter with Mr (or Mrs) (or Miss) porcupine. I just yesterday read an article about the quills and what to do if your dog gets them. Want me to send it to you? :)

  3. I’m missing the connection to the porcupine as muse (“a person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist”). Always interesting when we meet up with wild creatures who share our planet.
