
There we were in the local grocery store. Jonah, my guide dog, and I were becoming familiar as a team with the route through the aisles of food. This was a new experience for both of us. The store was new to him. He was new to me.
As we navigated our way avoiding obstacles, we happened upon other shoppers. Jonah was noticed by a child who was shopping with his mother. The young boy was curious about the words on Jonah’s harness.
The child in a loud voice asked, “Hay mister, is that dog blind?” He had read only part of words. I smiled and responded, “No, but I am.”

Indeed. It was a good question given what the child saw. The good news…the dog sees better than I do.
